چکیده

Giuseppe Argenziano, MD Associate Professor Dermatology & Skin Cancer Unit Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova IRCCS Reggio Emilia, Italy Melanoma, much like other cancers, encompasses a wide variety of biological behaviors. For example, lentigo maligna melanoma classically grows over many years, while nodular melanoma can present as a tumor that grows rapidly within a few months. The recent addition of the E, for Evolving or change, to the ABCD mnemonic (Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variegation, Diameter greater than 6 mm) for early melanoma recognition has provided the public and medical community an additional tool with which to identify potential malignancy.1 Such change can manifest itself as an alteration in symmetry, border, color, and/or diameter, as well as elevation and other traits.

Supplement: Abstracts from the SCCANZ Skin Cancer Conference, June 3–5, 2011, Gold Coast, Australia

Introduction: Serial dermatoscopic monitoring of pigmented skin lesions may introduce a delay in diagnosis of melanoma. Conversely it is argued that feature-poor melanomas may not otherwise be diagnosed without a large increase in biopsy rates. This study compared average Breslow thickness of melanomas that have been serially monitored with those that have not. Method: A retrospective analysis ...

Cutaneous Metastasis from Sacral Chordoma: A Case Report

Chordoma is a malignant, slow growing and locally aggressive tumor. It arises from remnants of the notochord and accounts for 1–4% of all primary bone tumors. They usually arise from anywhere along the spine, from base of the skull to the sacrococcygeal area and usually do not metastasize. Chordomas are slow-growing tumors which are not responsive to conventional chemotherapy or radiation. They...

Anatomical parameters of cardiopulmonary system, venous blood pCO2and pO2tensions and the development of ascites syndrome in two genetic line chickens that are differing in their growth rate

The present study was designed to examine the anatomical parameters of the cardiopulmonary system, the function of venous blood gas parameters and the development of ascites incidence in two genetic line chickens. Three hundred forty day-old chickens from two pure broiler breeder lines, which were different in their growth rate and susceptibility to ascites syndrome were obtained. The relative ...

Nutrition of school children at the Ages of 6-12 A review

SUMMARY The rate of growth in school children is very slow compared to younger children. On the average, they gain 2.3 kg in weight and grow 6.25 cm. in height annually. In this review we consider the growth charts which are widely used for monitoring the growth rate of children. One of the most important factors in growing children is to meet their nutritional needs. The caloric demands for ...

Nonlinear Analysis of Integrated Kinetics and Heat Transfer Models of Slow Pyrolysis of Biomass Particles using Differential Transformation Method

The inherent nonlinearities in the kinetics and heat transfer models of biomass pyrolysis have led to the applications of various numerical methods in solving the nonlinear problems. However, in order to have physical insights into the phenomena and to show the direct relationships between the parameters of the models, analytical solutions are required. In this work, approximate analytical solu...
